Maryland Market Money Program in Baltimore City gains sponsorship from Whole Foods Market
Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission is pleased to announce that Whole Foods Market is sponsoring the Maryland Market Money Program this season, investing directly in supporting community food and nutrition security.
The Whole Foods Market sponsorship will focus on three Baltimore City farmers markets: 32nd Street Farmers Market, Baltimore Farmers Market & Bazaar, and Govans Farmers Market. In addition to offering the program vital financial support, Whole Foods Markets will provide SNAP/EBT shoppers with a Whole Foods Market $10 ‘It’s On Us’ coupon card, to be used at Whole Foods Market Stores in Baltimore, MD. Combined with foods purchased at the farmers market, the It’s On Us card will help shoppers prepare nourishing meals and create a home pantry that they can continue to use.
“The opportunity to support Maryland Market Money and nutrition security in our local community speaks to Whole Foods Market’s mission of nourishing people and the planet,” said Scott Allshouse, Mid-Atlantic Regional President at Whole Foods Market. “This program is a great example of how we can work together to strengthen our Baltimore community by making eating healthy an easier choice.”
“We are thrilled to have the support of Whole Foods Market for our Maryland Market Money program,” noted Heather Hulsey, Maryland Market Money Coordinator. “We are grateful for this support and the clear benefit that will result from the generosity of Whole Foods Market. The needs of food-insecure Marylanders often outstrips available funding, especially during the pandemic. By targeting three farmers markets in Baltimore City, Whole Foods Market will help empower City residents to make healthy food choices during the worst public health crisis of our lifetime.”
