Maryland Market Money 101
Maryland Market Money is a statewide food access program operating at participating farmers markets, farm stands, and CSAs that accept the following federal nutrition benefits as payment:
eWIC-FVB (Women, Infant, and Children Fruit & Vegetable Benefit)
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP/EBT formerly known as Food Stamps)
SUN Bucks (Summer EBT)
Shoppers who spend these benefits at participating farmers markets can receive additional Maryland Market Money in the form of dollar-value tokens. These tokens can be spent on any SNAP-eligible foods at any participating farmers market, farm stand, or CSA in Maryland, helping to increase customers’ food budgets for purchasing fresh, healthy, local foods while also directly supporting local growers and producers.
Examples of SNAP-eligible items include: non-hot food items (fruits, veggies, meat, milk, eggs, etc.) and seeds or plants that produce food.
Examples of ineligible items include: beer, wine, liquor, vitamins or supplements, prepared foods fit for immediate consumption, and hot foods.
If you are a farmers market or direct marketing farmer who is interested in bringing Maryland Market Money to your market, send us an email.
