Maryland Market Money provides a dollar-for-dollar match for purchases made using federal nutrition benefits—SNAP/EBT, P-EBT, WIC & Senior FNMP, and eWIC-FVB— at select farmers markets. Maryland Market Money is a multi-tasking program that helps shoppers, farmers, and markets equally. It helps shoppers by lowering economic barriers to healthy foods, farmers by improving their financial viability, and markets by increasing their customer base.

Market managers: How would you like to boost sales and improve food access in your community? If your answer is yes to either question, you should offer the Maryland Market Money incentive program at your market.

The application to participate in the Maryland Market Money in 2021 is now open to new and returning farmers markets. To qualify to participate in the program, farmers markets must have at least two farmer/producers selling their own agricultural products (fruits, vegetables, dairy, grains, eggs, poultry, meat, and fish) and three total vendors (in accordance with the Maryland Department of Agriculture's definition of a farmers market). Thanks to county funding, producer-only farm stands in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties are also eligible to participate.

Questions about program participation should be directed to HHulsey@SMADC.com.
